This very rare and much sought out book is similar to many of the Biographical Sketch books done throughout the country of this era. With the only one exception, that this book covers the entire state and not a specific geographical region.  These 259 biographical sketches list the important events in the life of the subject, his noteworthy contributions to the city and/or state, date of birth, names of parents, and sometimes his ancestors, name of spouse and her date and place of birth and name of her parents, and names of children and spouses of the Biographies’. Surnames for which biographies are to be found are too numerous to list due to space.
